Matthew Imes’s How many times have you asked yourself, "What If...?" If you're like most of us, the answer is "too many times to count." What If? Is a timely story at a major intersection of human and computer connectivity and communication. Ryan Jones, a divorced 30+ year old, is looking for answers about his life. Ryan believes exploring his past is the key to his future, and his search leads him to a company that provides high-tech answers to the "what ifs" in life. Though skeptical, Ryan tests the service and finds it works incredibly well. A human-like AI personality, Stan, is the conduit by which users explore their pasts. Stan is able to take Ryan back to any time in his life, let Ryan change a decision or action, and then allow Ryan to experience the results. The Novel follows Ryan as he explores his past. What decisions would you change in your life? What would you do differently?

About Matthew Imes - Matthew is co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Adva-Net, a nationwide pain management network. Matthew helped take his company to #13 on 2017's Inc. 5000's list of fastest growing companies in the United States and the #1 fastest growing company in the healthcare sector. Like the main character in What If? Matthew began his professional career as an adjuster for a large national insurance company. Matthew has a BS in Business Administration, and completed the courses of study in History and Philosophy from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. He currently resides outside of New Orleans, Louisiana with his wife and son.

Matthew said, "When I started writing 'What If?', I wanted to create a story that everyone could relate to in some manner, and at the same time exorcise some of my own demons. When I started this book in 2012, news was not yet covering Elon Musk's and Mark Zuckerberg's efforts to integrate the human mind with Artificial Intelligence. With the flood of stories about these gentlemen's work, I truly believe we will see technology similar to that in the book within 10-20 years."

5 stars Excellent Story - interesting concept
Read this on the plane from NOLA to MO. what a great read!!! Laughed out loud on some parts, cried through one chapter, and thought about all the what ifs on the last 20 minutes of the flight after I finished reading it. Really well written, didn't want to stop reading while changing planes, and think I will probably read it again next trip to see what I missed. Definitely recommend, and hope for more books from this author.

The author did a great job creating a story line for which everyone can relate. The unique way the book is written allows the reading to fantasize about their own "What IF" moments from the past. At the same time, the ending message allows one to let go of the past and appreciate where actual decisions led them. Congrats to the author. Good work!

I found myself becoming disappointed in the main character as I was reading UNTIL an unexpected event happened. It was a clever, intentional move that turned my opinion around. The ending was also not what I was prepared for, and left me wondering "What's Next?"

5 stars Don't miss this book
This is a wonderful book! It really got me thinking about how personal decisions I've made have led me to my present situation. It's only natural for us to think back in time and wonder "what if" I'd done this or that. If you're like me, sometimes you've followed well-worn paths trod by others; sometimes a road less traveled made all the difference. Either way, Mr. Imes understands this, and allows the reader to consider their successes and regrets, while appreciating and treasuring their humanity. Wow! Good job! This story would be easily adaptable to a film. The author tells a tale that's clever, thought-provoking and insightful.

5 stars -Thought provoking book!
A friend recommended this book and I devoured it in a week. In the movie, The Big Kahuna, Danny Devito says, "A life worth living has regrets" and I think that could apply to all of us. In What If, Ryan (the main character) gets an opportunity to revisit past & future experiences (the good, bad and the ugly) and is forced to reevaluate them based on different outcomes/scenarios. I definitely could visualize the character's experiences and personal struggles in my mind as he worked through his "What If's".

5 stars - I could see this as a Top Box Office movie
I recently read this book at the recommendation of a friend. WOW! What a great book! It is funny and thought provoking. Although fiction, I believe this is our future. The main character is believable and genuine. The plot is well thought out and well...I didn't see the ending coming! All ingredients for a great read!! The story is so well written; leaving me impressed that a first time author could write this well. I can see this as a top box office movie!! Stay tuned for Matthew Imes...I can't wait to see what's next from him.

5 stars Hindsight is 20/20
An intriguing story with well-developed characters, "What If" grabbed me in the opening chapter...I could not put the book down. Although the underlying premise of this book is steeped in advanced technology, it is far from science fiction. The author does a great job of "painting a picture" of Ryan's (main character) journey and effectively places the reader right by his side. Ryan is a very relatable character, and like most of us, has had his "ups and downs" throughout his life. The difference is, he has the ability to see what his life experiences would have been like if he made different choices. This engaging and thought provoking novel will have you not only rooting for Ryan, but will seduce you into developing your own "What If" scenarios long after you put the book down.

What distinguished this novel from so many other fantasies is its grip on reality. Imes clearly has an ear and an eye for the unexpected. Author made me feel like I was part of the story. Well done!

I really enjoyed this book!! I am an avid reader, and especially enjoy finding new authors. The book was well written and thought provoking. Everybody has moments of "what if", and the book explores this in a witty, thoughtful way. I look forward to reading more from this author and could easily see this as a mini series or movie.
